4th of July Celebration at Alderbrook

Celebrate Fireworks on Hood Canal for 4th of July (3rd of July technically)!!

Believe it or not, but the Hood Canal is not actually a canal, it is a natural fjord right here in Washington! And quite the beautiful place to cruise down with amazing views of the Olympic Mountains. Alderbrook Resort, located on the Canal, sponsors a 4th of July celebration and fireworks extravaganza on July 3rd called ‘Thunder on the Canal’. During the day there is live music, a parade, and numerous other festivities on the grounds of Alderbrook and then a the fireworks show in the evening. There is a small fee to attend the festivities on the grounds if you are not a guest of the resort or their marina (usually $10/per person). The resort will release more specific details of the festivities and any updated cost as the event nears closer. In addition, on the night of July 4th, various households across the entire canal put on a fireworks show that can easily be seen from your boat - therefore you get 2 nights of fireworks by attending.

Alderbrook unfortunately is booked up on dock space for most of the 4th of July weekend except they do have 180ft of dock space (3-4 boats pending size) on hold for Tyee for the nights of 6/30 & 7/1. Please register for the cruise and select if you want to reserve any of those nights (pay direct to Alderbrook). It is a great opportunity to have easy access to the resort and all of the pool/hottub/spa amenities. For the remaining nights, there is great muddy anchoring conditions close to the dock or you can reserve dock space at the marina directly across the canal from Alderbrook called Summertide Resort and Marina. Summertide has 150ft of dock space but that will likely go quick so please reach out directly to them at summertidehoodcanal@gmail.com to reserve your space. Please note, that marina does not have power or water on the dock as they are upgrading those this season, but they do have access to bathrooms, showers and a general store.

The Alderbrook dock fee is $1.75/foot/night + a $5/night resort fee which gets you access to all the resorts amenities including the pool, spa

The Summertide dock fee is $1.50/foot/night

James and Susan Crabtree will be at the Alderbrook Dock from 6/30 - 7/5 and are happy to host docktails and be a dinghy landing. There is also lots to do in the area. Alderbrook has a great restaurant and spa that is open for anyone to make reservations regardless if you are staying at the resort or their dock. There are also numerous hiking trails and a golf resort just up the hill from Alderbrook & the town of Union is just down the road a few minutes too (or quicker by dinghy). Union has a few local shops and restaurants and just up the road from there is the famous Hama Hama oyster bar.  Based on registration for the cruise, we will plan some fun activities for us to do!

Now if you are a slower cruiser and are worried about the distance, you could also break the trip up and do some time in Port Ludlow or at Pleasant Harbor too. Please reach out to those marinas directly if you are interested in that.
